If you believe you are a victim of fraud, have concerns that your pen pal is a phony/catfish, feel threatened, or that your safety/security has been compromised, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with all the details. If you feel you are in immediate danger, please call 911 or your local emergency hotline.
We take pen pal safety very seriously. We will do the best we can to check out the person for you. We have certain restrictions on which countries we take pen pals from, mainly due to customs and postage issues. So if you apply (the list is always changing) and you get denied because of where you reside, try applying again, as the restrictions and laws change so frequently.
Also, be aware of what people are posting and talking about here and report any and all suspicious activity to us immediately – you can reach us at LetterCreateClass@gmail.com
Safety & Fraud FAQs
What sort of screening are you doing to keep out the creepers? As a former nanny agency recruiter we have a few things to help us make the screening process more streamlined and legit. We also anticipate that the people that sign up for our club (mainly subscription box holders) are people that are honest and want to connect with other ladies and guys.
Are you responsible or liable for anything that happens between me and my pen pal?
No, we are not. Once we have put you in contact with a new Pen Pal, we cannot be held responsible for the outcome of any contact of any kind made between you. We do hope you use common sense, and if you decide you feel uncomfortable giving your address out, don’t. Just let us know you would like us to either find you a new Pen Pal or you would like to drop out altogether.
My pen pal has asked for my social security number/credit card number/etc. What do I do?
Never give out any information like this to any pen pal, no matter how much you think you can trust them. A pen pal should not ever ask you for this kind of sensitive information.
I do not feel comfortable giving out my home address to a stranger. Can I still join the club?
Of course, and there are a couple of options for how you can still exchange mail. You can go to your local post office and sign up for a PO box. Then you can pick up your pen pals letters from a post office and they will not know where you live!
I have been paired with someone who is making me uncomfortable/a fraud/a liar/acting sketchy/dangerous… what do I do?
Do not respond to them, and do not give them any more information. Email us at LetterCreateClass@gmail.com – We cannot help you if you do not report it. If you feel you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency hotline such as 911.
Has there ever been any catfishes on this site?
There have been no confirmed cases of catfishes using our club.
Once we have put you in contact with a new pen pal we cannot be held responsible for the outcome of any contact of any kind made between you. If you are between 13 and 17 please ask your parents permission before joining. By confirming you have read this disclaimer you are acknowledging that you have permission to join this service.
We do hope you use common sense and if you decide you feel uncomfortable giving your address out, don’t. We wouldn’t want you to do anything you don’t feel 100% about. Your participation is totally voluntary.
If you are sending gifts with your letter remember to check that there are no international restrictions on posting said item.
